How To Buy Roller Skates

If you’ve never bought roller skates, either for yourself or for one of your children, here are some tips on how to do so: where to find skates, how to try them on, how to find good deals, etc.

If you are going to a shop, such as a sports wear shop or a hobby shop that sells roller skates, take the kids with you if the skates are for the kids. Each person buying skates should try his or her skates on before they are purchased where possible. Of course if you are buying online this might not be possible.

Sometimes skates fit differently than shoes, so if you aren’t sure what size skate you or your child should wear, get measured for them. Try going to a shop that sells skates, or even visit a roller skating rink just to get an idea of what size skates are needed.

Choosing to buy online is often a great way to buy skates, like rollerblades, as you can get a wide variety of choices in size, colour, style, and price. Why not try a site like Flywalk at skates.co.uk?

If you choose to buy online, try to find out what the returns policy is before you buy in case there is something wrong with the skates or they don’t’ fit properly when they arrive. That way you can return them or exchange them for skates that will fit better.

Trying to find good deals on skates can be difficult, but if you search for sales or products that are the last in the line, you may be able to find some great skates at lower prices. You can also buy second hand skates from various auction, trade, or second hand for-sale Web sites.

Make sure kids and adults alike understand safety while skating, and it’s a good idea to wear knee, shin, and wrist pads.

Keep The Faith

Keep The Faith

$8.59

If Faith Evans’s self-titled debut was inexplicably entwined in the rise of the Bad Boy empire, her eagerly anticipated follow-up, Keep the Faith, has been further steeped in the history of hip-hop–before anyone heard a note. There are plenty of ballads here (“No Way” and “Lately I” being the best), and Evans doesn’t hesitate to mine her emotional turmoil for lyrical material, but it’s the welcom…

Ally McBeal: A Very Ally Christmas

Ally McBeal: A Very Ally Christmas

$9.98

Ally McBeal has dominated television for three years, so why not a Christmas album for fans who number 20 million or more? Truth be told, this is really a Vonda Shepard record (she’s Ally’s TV singing voice), with a little help from the McBeal cast, including Ally (née Calista Flockhart), who successfully tries on Eartha Kitt’s silly, sassy, seductive “Santa Baby.” With 14 tracks and Macy Gray’s …

Popeye the Sailor: 1938-1940, Vol. 2

$6.99

During the late 1930′s, the Fleischers’ Popeye the Sailor cartoons rivaled even Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse shorts in popularity, and this second collection makes it easy to understand why. In contrast to the realistically animated characters in Disney’s lavishly beautiful shorts, Popeye, Olive and Bluto were rubber-limbed and broadly comic. These cartoons aren’t badly animated: notice the fun the…

Rob & Big: The Complete First & Second Seasons

Rob & Big: The Complete First & Second Seasons

$12.71

Less asinine than Jackass and more “real” than The Hills, MTV’s reality series Rob & Big is an entertaining diversion that mixes friendship and a few crazy stunts into each episode. In this four-disc box set, all 16 episodes from the first two seasons of the show are included. Rob Dyrdek may not be the most famous skateboarder out there, but he is charismatic, funny, and apparently has the means t…

That Girl – Season 2

One of the all-time great TV stars, Marlo Thomas–with her false eyelashes, fab flip, and an adorable raspy squeak when she got excited–achieved iconic status with That Girl, a top-rated and culture-busting show about the comic trials of an aspiring actress/model in 1960s New York City. Thomas (and her on-screen alter ego, Ann Marie) combined the poise and fashion sense of Audrey Hepburn, the bub…
